The Best Gift
Thank you for taking the next step to knowing what gift this Jesus has. The previous page you've seen that Jesus has a special gift for us, but what is really that gift? Think of the best gift you've ever received, an x box? a tv? a cd player? This gift that Jesus has is better than all those gifts you have. Do you really want to know that gift?
But first I'll tell you a story . . .
Let's try to look at an onlookers journal of what he saw . . .
Today, I was walking in Jerusalem away from my home at Africa. There was this crowd that was forming and I was so curious, I wanted to see what it was. I saw this man, carrying a cross, with a crown of thorns on his head, this people said to me that, man was a blasphemy. Then this soldier tapped at my soldier and asked to carry the cross of that man. I didn't really want to carry it. Because firstly I didn't want to help a person who is a criminal (as I thought before). But then while we were carrying the cross together, I realized the real person. And I thought to myself, possibly this people must be saying the wrong thing, he's the opposite actually. It was actually the first time I saw a man suffer like that. He must be suffering terribly. There was something abut this man that is different from others. When we reached Mt. Calvary, they told me that I can go. But then before I left, I talked to this person who was crying. I learned that her name was Mary Magdalene. She said that this man, Jesus, did wonderful miracles and never sinned in his life. He healed the sick, made the blind see, made the deaf here, made the mute talk, made the lame walk, forgave, preached like a teacher, demons were cast out and most of all he was loving. Then Mary told me her life story:
If you ever read Proverbs, you would notice the first part it was a warning to young men. I was the prostitute there. The priests dragged me out of my bed, and they led me to this man, the priests threw me there. Then the man asked, "What has she committed?" Then the priests said, "Adultery." Then the man asked all of the priests, "If anyone of you won't do a sin connected to this, throw a stone." all of them threw a stone and left. Then this man said, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more. It ws amazing! Then later I learned his name was Jesus. I always followed him wherever he went. I really loved him. But look now! He's here, suffering like a criminal when he was a hero of the world!
So I considered it, what Mary just said was the truth this man was innocent, but why was he suffering? But then I bumped into a disciple of Jesus, John. He told me this:
We were having our passover meal, with Jesus. When we were eatimg our meal, Jesus suddenly told us that someone will betray him. I was shocked what he said. For me it would be really hard broken to betray a good leader. Then Peter nudged me in the shoulder and told me to ask Jesus since I was beside him so I asked him. He whispered to me that he will give bread with sauce the one who is going to betray him. He gave it to Judas. I was shocked. I didn't know a person like him could betray someone so good. Then Judas left after that.
Until I discovered he was going to betray Jesus.
I'll tell you why.
We were walking in the Garden of Gethshemane when Jesus told us to sit and wait for him. He walked farther to the garden. It was a long wait and I slept. Then someone woke me up, it was Jesus. He told me that the body is tired but the spirit is not and he left again. I slept again, he woke me up again. But finally, Jesus woke me up again for the last time. Come my betrayer is here. And from a distance, I saw torches going closer. We, Peter, James and me followed Jesus, toward the torches. In front of them we saw Judas. Judas told his soldier companions that the person who he kisses is the person to be taken away. He kissed Jesus, but before they could get him, Peter cut of the priests servants ear. We all ran, except Peter.
I was still considering it until I saw someone crying. I asked why she was crying. She said it was because her son, Jesus, was dying. Then she told me her story:
While I was still young, one day while I was doing my shores, I met an angel. His name was Gabriel. He told me that I will have a special son. But then I thought of it; how could I have a son when I am not married yet? The angel told me that I found favor in the eyes of God. And he will give me a son through Joseph. So I agreed with what the angel said.
Now, Joseph and me traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem. We tried to find a hotel room for us, but there wasn't really space, except in a stable. So we went there. We placed the baby in a manger when he was born. Then suddenly, three wisemen came. They said they were following a star to the newborn King of the Jews and it led there. They bowed down to the Jesus and they gave him gold, frakincense and myrrh. Then at that night, Joseph was warned in a dream to go to Egypt because King Herod was looking for Jesus. So we went to Egypt and we stayed there until we earned that he was dead. We didn't go to Bethlehem instead we went back to Nazareth.
Then when Jesus was twelve years old, we brought him with us to Jerusalem for Passover. But when we left, we didn't notice that Jesus was gone. We were worried and we backtracked our path and then finally, we saw him in the temple, preaching to the priests! I was suprised and yet joyful to see Jesus again.
But now Jesus is dying on the cross for all of the sins we've done. Today, he will defeat Satan. I believe though that it is God's purpose to go through this.
And now, I have learned it. As I walked down the mountain I looked back at Jesus' cross. There was dark cloud and an earthquake. Then I heard him say, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"
and then I knew he was dead. It was the most incredible day in my life. What these people were sating was all true. Jesus is Lord. He has conquered sin but has he conquered death? I'll tell you yes. He has conquered death when he rose from the death. If you don't believe it, try looking at John, Mark, luke or Matthew. If you don't believe still there is incredible evidence. First, I talked to three people which meant he rose on the third day, and most of all it says,
"FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE."
John 3:16
"FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD."
Romans 6:23
Are you ready to hear the truth? Here is the truth!
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the light. No one goes to the father except through me."
John 14:6
Jesus paid the price for our sins by dying on that cross. He really loves us so much. He suffered terribly to pay for our sins. It is because of the great love and mercy that he has in store for us. He was willing to die for you and for me, this is why you were here right now, to know the truth. Do you really believe that Jesus died for your sins? Then pray with me:
Dear Father,
I am sorry that I have sinned against you. Please forgive me for
(mention your sins one-by-one) I pray that each day that you will guide me to your way and light. I now realize that you have died for me because of your great love for us. Because you love us so much that you died for us. I know without you, there won't be this great gift that you're giving us. Only you can give us this gift. I now accept you as my truly, remarkable saviour. That only you can save me from sin. I offer my life to you, as a living sacrifice for your love. Your love is truly beautiful, Lord. It is the greatest love that I ever experienced. From now, O lord, I commit my life to you, to you only I serve to. Give me guidance on the journey of life. Thank you for giving me this gift, of eternal life. This we ask in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
If you made that prayer sincerely, congratulations.
You've just received the gift.
